2005 Pulitzer Prize Winners
I heard a radio interview with Deanne Fitzmaurice, this year's Pulitzer Prize winner in Journalism: Feature Photography. I felt compelled to look at the pictures when I heard the story the story behind them. The photos follow an Iraqi boy named Saleh (and his family) after he was maimed in a bomb explosion that killed his older brother; they are moving beyond words.
On a lighter note, this years winner for Letters and Drama: Fiction was Marilynne Robinson for her book Gilead. Why would I post about a book I haven't read? Givin' props. Ms. Robinson is a professor here at Iowa. She is one of many Pulitzer Prize-winning teachers/students of Iowa's Writers Workshop.
